Shortly after Ulysses S Grant was promoted to be the Commander Of the Union Army, he was promoted to be the Commander of the Western Theatre. He was most praised for his style of combat called ''modern warfare". It was not the video game though, this was the real deal. His style of warfare tore through cities. Robert Edward Lee, Born January 19, 1807 in Stratford Virginia. He was the General and Chief of the Confederate army. He turned down an offer to lead the Union army and once Virginia seceded he said he would help lead the Confederate Army. He had a couple of good military victories and key moments for the confederacy like driving back the Union army out of Richmond in the 7 days battle and winning the battle of second Manasses. By the summer of 1864, the Union army controlled much of the war and took out the capital of the Confederate States which was Richmond Virginia. On April 2, 1865 he surrendered to Ulysses in a house in Appomattox Virginia. In 1870 he suffered a severe stroke and died at his house in Virginia.

He didn't really care what the public needed or about civil problems, he put the war first and never succeeded. After the fall of the Confederacy he was captured and accused of treason but then released after 2 years.
Abraham Lincoln or "Honest Abe", he was at odds trying to stop the rebellion of the south. As president of a nation where about half its states seceded to try and form a new one, he faced many challenges and struggles especially in his first couple of years in office. The first thing he did at the outbreak of war was to distribute 2 million dollars to the treasury on war materials in which the congress did not vote on and he wanted 75000 volunteers to go into military service without a declaration of the war. After the first year of war he had many crushing defeats, but the momentum switched and he made a push to abolish slavery. After about 4 years of back and fourth fighting, general Robert E. Lee surrendered to union general Ulysses S. Grant and the war was essentially over. He started reconstruction during the war, as early as 1863, but was assassinated April 14, 1865, a time when his country needed him most.
